Research
The primary scientific goal of OKEON is to measure and monitor the terrestrial environments of Okinawa and understand how natural and anthropogenic factors affect the environment over time.

Arthropod Sampling
A core goal of OKEON is to conduct a biodiversity survey of arthropods across the many environments of Okinawa.

Acoustic Monitoring
We currently have acoustic recorders deployed at each of the 24 OKEON sites, and are recording natural sounds 24/7.

Ecological Genomics
We are developing new high-throughput technologies for generating rapid sequence data, and using this pipeline to analyze samples from Okinawa.

Physical Parameters
We have an environmental data logger at each of the 24 OKEON sites recording at 15-minute intervals of many parameters.
